This time of year, our woodland habitats are coming alive with tiny tree frogs, migrating from their woodland  hibernation sites under fallen leaves or rotting logs  to the little snowmelt puddles  and fishless ponds where they can safely lay their eggs.  And this year, we have lots of those snowmelt puddles and we will have even more when this snow melts!

A major goal of our  expansion project is to ensure that the water leaving our parking lot be clean enough that spring peeper and other frogs can continue to successful reproduce.
Migrations of frogs from our forests to Hauser Pond and the Wildlife Scrape east of the Collins Learning Center usually occur after dark, and most likely on a rainy night, so most people will not experience the annual procession. But we have scheduled two Evening Walks in the Woods for this week  Friday, April 1 and Monday, April 4  (But not on Thursday—we will be at TAP)  on the outside chance that the tiny tree frogs may be moving.
On Tuesday, April 5, at 6:00 in the Collins Learning Center, the Door County Alchohol & Other Drug Coalition will sponsor a Town Hall Meeting featuring Investigator Jon Gilson of the Door County Sheriff’s Department who will speak on “Marijuana and Underage Drinking-So what about it?”

David Lenius will present the illustrated program “Introduction to Video Astronomy and Dr. John Beck will present “The Viewing Target of the Month.
