SCOPES DONATED TO THE LIBARY

library telescopesOn Thursday morning, members of the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society donated four telescopes to the Door County Libraries.  Starting in January, library card holders will be able to borrow these  telescopes from the Sturgeon Bay and Sister Bay Branches of the Library.  In a short orientation meeting, the librarians got excited …eager to try  the scopes  for themselves…..and they are  in luck. And so is the whole community!

Saturday, December 12 starting at 6:00 the DPAS is sponsoring its December Viewing Night at Crossroads Astronomy Center, 2200 Utah in Sturgeon Bay.  If skies are clear, the librarians and the general public will have a chance to try out the new scopes in our StarGarden. But even if it is overcast, members of DPAS will offer a training session—the first of many outreach programs— introducing learners of all ages to the wonder and beauty of the night sky.  The indoor program will be held in the Stonecipher Astronomy Center.
