Friends of Crossroads at Big Creek

The Mission of the Friends of Crossroads at Big Creek is to promote and assist with programs through gifts of time, talent and financial resources for the benefit of Crossroads at Big Creek Inc.

If you volunteer at Crossroads, you are a Friend of Crossroads.

Friends contribute their time and talent by hosting events, decorating for the seasons, helping create exhibits, painting, gardening, cleaning, planting trees, removing invasive species, helping with school groups and doing mailings. Friends organize and volunteers for the Community Ski Program, and the Crossroads  Trail Run.

Over the years, the group has contributed the funds to purchase many of the items that make Crossroads special—cross-country skis, perimeter plantings, handrails in the lecture hall, library materials, kitchen supplies, office equipment etc., and materials for exhibits. a

Many members of Friends prefer to work on individual projects, and their help is also welcome. Those interested in volunteering should contact 920-746-5895.

Crossroads at Big Creek Habitat Healers

Crossroads’ 200-acre property, located within Sturgeon Bay’s city limits, was once marketed as “an ideal place for a gas station.” Crossroads now provides quality habitat for all sorts of plants and animals and recreational space for the community. But work remains to be done!

Habitat Healers work parties typically meet Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m.-11:00.  Meet at the Workshop at 2041 Michigan Street. Wear appropriate clothes and shoes for outdoor work and please bring your own water bottle. We’ll provide the training, gloves and any other equipment needed as well as lemonade and cookies when the work is done! No need to register in advance.

Work projects may include tree planting, invasive species removal, weeding at the Bird & Butterfly Garden, boardwalk construction or other projects.

Please check our website for time changes due to holidays or other events. If you’re interested in bringing a group to work, please contact us ahead of time at 920-746-5895 or info@crossroadsatbigcreek.org. Youth are welcome, too.
