Wisconsin’s John Muir Exhibit

Collins Learning Center   10:00 -3:00 daily

In celebration of the National Park Service Centennial, the Wisconsin Historical Society has created an exhibit illustrating the accomplishments JohnMuir, one cof America’s most important environmental thinkers and activists.  He came to Wisconsin as a boy, grew up near Portage, and attended the University of Wisconsin.  After decades of wandering in the mountains of California, he led the movement for national parks and helped create the Sierra Club.

This exhibit about Muir’s life and legacy is being shared by the Wisconsin Historical Society with 25 local libraries and historical societies throughout the state. The Door County Historical Society, Door County Library, and Crossroads are collaborating to bring the exhibit to Door County.  Displays will be housed in the lower level of the Collins Learning Center and the Vignes School in the Heritage Village at Big Creek.
